Galaxie 500 was the germinal guitar band from the late 1980s who were heavily influenced per late Velvet Underground. Galaxie 500 leveraged fairly minimum implemental system using incapacitating atmospheric static, provided by producer Kramer, & their distinctive healthy wore an influence beyond a little audience for their independently discharged albums. the title comes from either a Ford car of the 1960s, the Ford Galaxie 500. It enjoyed underground profits in the United Kingdom on the Rough Trade label. When it went ruin, Galaxie 500's back catalgoue was reissued by Ryko.

Guitar player & singer Dean Wareham went in to incurred a band Luna during the Nineties & freed the string of critically easily-received albums. Drummer Damon Krukowski & bassist Naomi Yang continued to record under a nickname Damon & Naomi, and additionally began the avant-garde press Exact Change.
